01 / OUR FOUNDATION
Bridging the gap between knowledge and application.
The Global Initiative Centre for Scientific Research and Development (GICSRD) was founded to connect academic research with professional practice.
Our founding members envisioned a Centre that advances innovative scientific research, builds entrepreneurial capacity and equips researchers and postgraduate students with the skills to put knowledge to work.
Our team brings together established and emerging scientists, academics and industrialists. Through meaningful discoveries and collaboration, we aim to contribute to the body of knowledge and close the gap between research and its practical application.

An intellectual hub where knowledge converges, ideas thrive and research supports sustainable development.
02 / OUR FOCUS
Developing people. Strengthening research.
Our interests span different areas of science, with a commitment to human capacity development and entrepreneurship.
01
Undergraduate research & inquiry
We partner with recognised degree-awarding institutions to integrate research and teaching. Practical engagement within approved curricula prepares students for the workplace and strengthens the quality of our partners’ graduates.
02
Postgraduate academy
We equip scholars, researchers and postgraduate students to carry research through to completion. Collaborative work helps sharpen skills, improve relevance and contribute to lasting growth and development in Africa.
03
Institutional capacity development
Changing technologies and operating models call for new skills across organisations. Our approach recognises the need for training and upskilling at every level, from senior executives to supporting staff.
04
Entrepreneurship & applied knowledge
We connect our commitment to research with entrepreneurial capacity building, encouraging knowledge and research outputs that are relevant to industry, the economy and society.
03 / WHY IT MATTERS
A changing world calls for new ways of thinking.
Digital disruption, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has reshaped how institutions work and deliver services. Adapting requires more than technology: it calls for new operating models, relevant infrastructure and people with the right skills.
In a knowledge-driven economy, research and development, software and data management create opportunities to deliver value. GICSRD’s purpose responds to that need by connecting intellectual exploration with the challenges facing industry and society.
The Centre was founded by Nigerian scholars, academics at home and abroad, public and civil servants, and private-sector experts. This breadth of experience brings different perspectives to the work of research and development.
We are building collaborations with like-minded institutions and research centres around the world to exchange ideas and relevant information, and to connect research with practical needs.
